Contents

Vertigo City

Dapper in the paper. Mouse talks with Indjun Kate, but doesn't feel ready yet to take her place as the spiritual leader of the Fox people. War counsil. Countess Alexandra agrees to sent her White Eagles to Fort Coyote. The countess shows the Truth to Altaea. However, the scroll is empty of any writing. Apparently it can only be read at the appointed time.

The Fox Lands

Meeting at Midnight. Garret reduced to a lifeless husk. Garret dies.

Fane of the Ashen God

The following morning, the sun rises about half an hour too late.

Monolith in the Glassmaker camp. Entering the monolith by making the promise to betray someone in name of the Ashen God to a manifestation of the god himself. Battle against the mysterious leader of the Glassmakers.

The Battle for Fort Coyote

Again, the sun rises later than it should.

Large battle. Mouse kills Strong Bear in name of the Ashen God. Strong Bear's spirit flows into Garret to fuel his resurrection, taking the hyena chief out of the reincarnation cycle. Mouse takes the Ancestral Headdress of the Fox for herself.

The Sun Changes

The posse goes back to Vertigo City and decide to attack the gnolls in Red Fox Trading Post the next day. Garret rides to Gatebourne and Tombstone, and betrays Dapper in name of Nate Hogshed by spending the night with her.

That night the members of the posse dream about the Ashen God. They're awakened by screaming. All over Vertigo City and Tombstone (and probably all over the world) people awaken screaming from their sleep. The sun in the sky has changed and keeps changing, taking on strange colors and radiating weird lights. Somehow, it doesn't look like the eye of Adon anymore.

Garret hurries back to Vertigo City and the posse sets out to Red Fox Trading Post, where they take care of the gnolls.

Back in Vertigo

Garret meets with Ston Storreman, who apparently works for Countess Alexandra's father, the immortal Luthus, and is very interested in the Truth. Dapper comes upon the artist Urandal Perkins, who tells him he made a couple of paintings of Isabella Stark. Dapper buys all the sketches Perkins made of her.

Countess Alexandra receives the members of the posse one at the time. Garret and Dapper swear fealty to the countess and are granted the title of Baron of Gatebourne and Knight of Tombstone, respectively. Mouse refused an offer to govern the fox lands in the Countess' name and steared toward a treaty between the Fox tribe and Vertigo instead. Alexandra hasn't much to offer Althaea, but the countess promises to share her information about the drow in her lands, and anything else that might have significance in Althaea's mission.

The Truth Reveiled

Althaea requests permission to do an Object Reading on the the scroll but this is denied her. That night, Althaea breaks into Vertigo Manor to borrow The Truth. Mouse performs the Reading on the scroll and learns who wrote it (Sariel), who stole it (an unknown female thief), who the thief was was working for (Shelba, who seems to notice Mouse spying on her), and how Alexandra got it in her possession (Ibbo, who is reveiled to be an agent of the countess).

During the Object Reading they notice The Truth is legible.
